Shark nets are 'old technology' and 'aren't very effective' – Sky News Australia

Waverly Council Mayor Paula Masselos says she doesn’t think shark nets are very effective in stopping sharks from coming into NSW beaches.
Several NSW councils and some MPs are lobbying the state government to go without shark nets this summer for the first time in almost 100 years.
Ms Masselos said the nets are “very old technology”.
“We do patrol our beaches and we do have a number of initiatives in place to ensure our beachgoers are as safe as possible,” she told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
